Essential Nutrition
& Omega Fatty Acids

Omega essential fatty acids (EFAs) have been scientifically proven to play a critical role in proper growth and development, inflammation response, mood regulation, immune strength, cardiovascular and neurological health, cellular respiration, and more. But these Omega EFAs – essential to health and nutrition – are not actually produced by the body, and therefore must be consumed and supplemented from the food you eat.

Today, the average person’s intake of omega-6 is much too high, and the intake of omega-3 is much too low; this imbalance correlates to the prevalence of common degenerative diseases. The consumption of processed foods and trans fatty acids also increases levels of LDL (bad cholesterol), which collects on the walls of blood vessels and can cause blockages that build up over time. Trans fatty acids also decrease levels of HDL (good cholesterol). Fortunately, the addition of healthy dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids (Omega 3-6-9) has been shown to improve healthy cholesterol levels.

Hemp:
The Ideal Omega Source

Consumers are demanding natural and sustainable ingredients as a way to promote health and avoid the all too common toxins, heavy metals, pesticides, trans fats and genetically modified organisms.

Hemp boasts a near perfect ratio of omega-3 (alpha-linolenic) to omega-6 (linoleic) essential fatty acids. The ideal ratio is 3:1 and hemp nuts have a ratio of just that, 3.38 parts Omega 6 to 1 part Omega 3, beating out flax seed, which has a 1:4 ratio, and chia seed, which has a 4:3 ratio. Hemp also contains the also beneficial fatty acids gamma-linolenic acid (omega-9), stearidonic acid, and oleic acid.

“Industrial hemp is a premier source of superior nutritional products, high quality, durable fibers, and offers the potential for significant value as a pharmaceutical drug. No other plant offers so much. As hemp overcomes the stigmas associated with the narcotic member of the cannabis family (marijuana) it will become one of the most important crops grown in North America.”

Composition of Hemp Seeds
  • 45% Oil
  • 35% Protein
  • 10% Fibre
  • 10% Carbohydrates

Hempseed oil is 100% natural, gluten free, dairy free (and therefore, antibiotic and hormone free), and contains no trans fats, mercury, or heavy metals. Hempseed oil is hypoallergenic, extremely high in antioxidants, and has no fishy smell or taste like competing omega supplement capsules.

Hemp also has a low glycemic index (the rate and level at which the body converts food into glucose). Low glycemic index foods are crucial for managing blood sugar levels and are ideal for supporting healthy weight loss.

From an environmental standpoint, hemp is a sustainable, renewable resource for food and fiber production, and does not deplete and permanently destroy resources like the Omega 3 fishing industry. Hemp does not require the use of pesticides, fungicides, herbicides or other sprays. In fact, hemp I proving to be the best phyto-remediative plant found today. Planting hemp at polluted sites helps to break down toxic chemicals, remove nuclear elements, stabilize and clean up metal contaminants, pesticides, solvents and crude oil by acting as the world’s best natural filter.

It is no wonder that this one of a kind complete protein and omega rich plant is one of the earth’s biggest superstars – a true definition of a superfood.
